Research you can check yourself.

Most business-communications decisions get made on bad information: pricing pages that move, decks that omit the awkward limits, benchmark studies a year and a half behind the market. This is the reference material we use ourselves, published without a gate in front of it.

Before anything else

Four rules, and what they cost us

A vendor publishing research has an obvious conflict, and pretending otherwise is the fastest way to be ignored. These are the rules this section is written under. Each one has a price attached, which is how you can tell whether they are real.

  • Nothing here is gatedNo form in front of a calculator, no email address for a comparison table, no "download the guide" step. If it is published, it is readable.
  • Numbers carry their sourceWhere a figure comes from a vendor page, the page is cited. Where a vendor will not publish pricing without a sales call, we say that rather than estimating and presenting the estimate as fact.
  • Our bias is stated, not hiddenDialPhone owns this publication and appears first on its own comparisons. What makes that survivable is that the competitor pages document, in detail, the cases where the competitor is the better buy.
  • Corrections happen in publicA wrong fact gets fixed on the page with the change noted, not quietly edited overnight. Send the URL and the claim and it gets looked at.

The expensive one is the third. Stating our bias means the comparison pages have to be genuinely useful to somebody who ends up buying from a competitor — and several of them are. That is the trade: fewer conversions from the pages, more trust in the ones that matter.

Customer evidence

The part we will not rush

Case studies are the page a vendor is most tempted to fabricate, and the easiest to spot when they have been. Ours publish only with the customer’s written approval, and every metric is reconciled against their own analytics before it appears. That makes the pipeline slow, which is the right trade — and it is why a reference call is the better option while the library is still short.

Reference material that lives outside this section

The comparison cluster puts DialPhone against twelve competitors line by line, with every price stamped with the quarter it was read in. Pricing publishes our own rates in full, including what sits below the line on the invoice. The Erlang calculator is the single most-used thing in this section and the one most likely to be useful to you today. And the editorial standards say who wrote all of this and how to get it corrected.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is any of this behind a form or a paywall?

No. Every guide, definition and calculator on this site is readable without an account, an email address or a cookie banner you have to argue with. The one thing that asks for details is the contact form, because a reply needs somewhere to go.

Can I cite or reuse this material?

Yes, with a link back. Quote the definitions, screenshot the tables, use the calculator output in an internal deck. If you are citing a figure in something that matters, check the date on the page first — vendor pricing in particular moves faster than any comparison page can.

You sell a phone system. Why should I trust your comparisons?

You should not, on the strength of us saying so. Read one of the head-to-head pages instead and look at what it concedes: several of them open by stating that the competitor wins on price, and one says outright that a twenty-person team pays them a fraction of what it pays us. A comparison page that never loses is marketing; the only way to be believed on the ones we win is to be straight on the ones we do not.

How current is this?

Reference material — the calculator methodology, for instance — changes rarely because the underlying facts do. Anything involving a competitor’s pricing carries the quarter it was read in, and should be re-checked against that vendor’s own site before it decides a purchase.

Something here is wrong. What happens?

Send the URL and the specific claim. If it is wrong it gets corrected on the page with a note saying what changed, and that is the same process whether the error favours us or a competitor.

Read the pages, then test the claims.
