Editorial

Who writes this, and what they owe you.

This site ranks its own product against twelve competitors. You should read that with suspicion. What follows is the policy that is supposed to make the research usable anyway — stated plainly enough that you can hold us to it.

  • Bias declared
  • Sources linked
  • Corrections in public
The obvious objection

Marketing that calls itself research

Most business software content on the open web is anonymous, ghost-written, or signed by a generic team, and almost all of it is published by somebody selling one of the products under discussion. A buyer researching a purchase has no way to tell independent analysis from a sales deck with headings.

We are not independent and there is no version of this page that makes us so. What we can do is be specific about where the bias sits, so you know which parts to discount. It sits in the ordering: on any list, our own product goes first. It does not sit in the reasons given for choosing somebody else, which are written to be genuinely useful to a reader who ends up doing exactly that.

Three bylines, two of them teams

  • Darshan MGrowth Operations, DialPhoneOwns the comparison programme and the pricing research behind it — which vendors get covered, how their published figures are read, and what happens when one of them changes a price mid-quarter.
  • DialPhone Content TeamResearch and writingWrites the guides and the solution pages. A team byline rather than an invented individual: several people touch most pages and attributing them to one person would be the first false thing on the page.
  • DialPhone Product TeamProduct, telephony and complianceReviews anything that makes a claim about what the platform does. Product pages do not publish until somebody who builds the thing has read the sentence describing it.

Two of the three are team bylines. Splitting them into invented individuals with photographs would make the roster look deeper and would be the first untrue thing on a page about not publishing untrue things.

The standards

Four rules, each with a cost attached

  • 01Our bias is declared, not managedDialPhone owns this publication and appears first on its own comparisons. The check on that is not a disclaimer, it is the content of the comparison pages: several open by stating the competitor wins on price, and one says outright that a twenty-person team pays them a fraction of what it pays us.
  • 02Competitor figures are marked approximatePrices are read from vendors' own published pages and stamped with the quarter they were read in. They are not invoice-verified and no page on this site claims they are. Where a vendor will not publish a price without a sales call, that is what we write, rather than estimating and presenting the estimate as a fact.
  • 03Regulatory claims cite the rule, not a summaryWhere a page describes what HIPAA, the TCPA or STIR/SHAKEN requires, it describes the obligation itself. What DialPhone holds is a product claim and lives on a product page where it can be checked — never inside a definition, where it would look like a fact about the industry.
  • 04Corrections are made in publicA wrong fact is fixed on the page with a note saying what changed, not edited silently overnight. The same process applies whether the error flattered us or a competitor.
If we are wrong

How to get something corrected

Send the URL and the specific claim — here is fine. Vendor pricing in particular moves faster than any comparison page can, so a figure that was accurate last quarter may not be this one; those get updated with the new reading and the new date rather than quietly overwritten.

If you work for one of the companies covered on the comparison pages and something there misrepresents your product, the same route applies and the same process is used. We would rather be corrected than be wrong in a way that helps us.

The two places these standards are easiest to check are the ones with numbers on them: pricing, where our own rates are published in full including what sits below the line, and the field notes, where every figure carries the source it was read from.

Check it against your own calls.
